CDS Boston Centre welcomes dancers of all ages, ethnicities, and experience levels! Whether you’re looking to try a new dance style, intrigued by the Jane Austen connection, or have been doing English country dance for years, (or several of the above!) we’re sure you’ll find something to love at one of our regular series or special events.
Harvard Square Friday Evening Beginner-Friendly Series
This series is aimed at attracting new dancers to English dancing. The dance is held in Harvard Square on two Fridays a month, September through June.
Arlington Wednesday Evening Series with music by Bare Necessities and Friends
The Wednesday series in Arlington Heights is for all dancers, from new to experienced, and features something for everyone, September through June.
Advanced Challenging English (ACE) Dance Series
Experienced dancers are invited to join us on (usually) First Fridays or First Saturdays, in a variety of locations for an evening of challenging dances, or familiar dances done with less (or no) teaching. Most dances are taught, but dancers are expected to be familiar with the common figures such as siding, heys, figure-of-eight, etc. October through May.
Special Events
CDS Boston Centre offers many special dances throughout the year, in addition to the regular series described on this page. We welcome you to the Fall Favorites dance party in autumn, the Holiday Gala Party on the first Saturday of the New Year, a mid-winter dance celebration featuring a special guest caller, the Boston Playford Ball on the second Saturday in March, and more.
Summer Wednesday Dance Parties and Ice Cream Socials
Dances in July and August, in air conditioning, with ice cream during the break!
