Pinewoods Camp was not originally designed for children; campers under 18
must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Please read the Pinewoods Rules for Campers
Under 18, then fill out the liability release
form and send it in with your check.
There are no cribs or other special equipment for children in camp, so please
bring a portable crib for small children.
Housing for children will be near their parents, but not necessarily in the
same cabin. Families with similar-age children will be grouped together when
possible. Walkie-talkies are encouraged for parents' peace of mind in the
evenings.
Teams of monitors will be walking through camp in the evenings checking on
kids alone in cabins every 10 minutes or so, providing company and notifying
parents as needed. We will be housing families that plan to use this service in
the same area of camp. Please indicate your interest in this service on the
application.
PINEWOODS CAMP, INC.
RULES FOR CAMPERS UNDER 18
Welcome families! For your children's safety, remember that Pinewoods is not
certified as a children's camp, nor is it childproof. Your children could
easily get hurt or lost if not closely supervised. The camp environment is also
fragile–please help your children respect and care for the trees, plants,
and paths.
-
Campers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is
responsible for those children at all times. A Statement of
Responsibility form must be signed by the child's parent (and the
appointed guardian, if applicable) and provided to Pinewoods on or before
arrival.
-
Parents who send their child to camp with a guardian must also sign a form
authorizing emergency medical treatment.
-
Additional waterfront rules for campers under 18:
General waterfront rules are posted at camp. Please review them with
your children. Pinewoods Camp, Inc. does not assume responsibility for
campers swimming or using the boats.
- Swimming:
- Ages 0 – 9: may swim only at the designated area while the
lifeguards are on duty and must be accompanied and supervised by
their parent or another adult designated by a parent.
- Ages 10 – 17: may swim without a parent when the
lifeguard is on duty, and with a parent's consent. Under
some circumstances, may also swim with a parent or another adult
designated by a parent during non-lifeguarded hours, however
Pinewoods Camp Inc. strongly recommends that User Groups only
allow campers between the age of 10 and 17 to swim where and
while a lifeguard is on duty.
- Campers under 18 must pass the lifeguard's
swimming test in order to swim beyond the dock, even when
accompanied by a parent or other adult.
- One adult may not supervise more than 4 children at one
time.
- Boating: (PCI recommends that everyone wear a life jacket when
boating)
- Campers under 13 must be accompanied by their parent or
another adult designated by a parent. Campers age 13-17 may
canoe with another teen during daylight hours only
if both have passed the swimming test and
if their parents permit. Otherwise a parent or
parent designated adult is required.
- Anyone under 18 may only boat under the supervision
of the lifeguards and must wear a life jacket at
all times when boating.
- The illegal use and sale of alcohol and drugs is prohibited. The
Massachusetts state legal drinking age is 21 years.
